Founded in 1978, Alan Johnston set up our independent consulting engineering practice (AJP) in the heart of Liverpool's Commercial Business District, with a view to becoming a reliable source of expertise in the construction industry.

Over the past 40 years, AJP have earned a reputation as a key player in the field, valued by clients and collaborators as being a safe pair of hands on the job. With strong beginnings in the Healthcare sector, AJP now operates UK-wide across five major sectors including Education, Residential, Leisure and Commercial.

Alan's aspirations to offer clients a personal service, clear technical advice, and unrivalled practical oversight by senior personnel remain at the core of AJP's work ethic, with today's directors continuing to lead the company in his vision. As a progressive organisation backed by a team of highly-skilled engineers, AJP consistently achieves the output of a much larger company, with time-honoured trust.

The practice has successfully delivered projects with values of up to £250m, whilst retaining the client benefits of working with a compact and focussed team.

Our dynamic leadership, with three Directors at the helm of the company and a wealth of senior experts in specialist areas, has seen AJP establish a modern working culture that puts people first.
