The Practice completes a considerable number of RSL housing developments each year working for major contractors. Funding often dictates that projects are tested against current BREEAM and code for sustainable homes criteria.
AJP are experienced with the environmental aspects of construction and their structural implications to a project. These range from the use of timber framing, recycled materials and SuDS approach to drainage including the implications of housing built to Code 4 criteria.
The extent of our involvement in housing includes the design and specification of roads, drainage, foundations and superstructure. Our team are experienced with the particularly sensitive requirements of contamination, surface water containment, the adoption of roads by local authority highways departments and water authority procedures for sewers.
Residential projects extend to retirement villages of which we have completed nine in recent years to care homes (currently on site with two further schemes). Our other area of interest is student accommodation and apart from the developments at Edge Hill University (see education) the practice has successfully been involved with projects since 1999.
Private multi-storey flats for developers has always been part of our work portfolio and until recent probably accounted for 5% of our turnover. In addition, we complete a significant number of individual houses or small bespoke developments for Architects.
